Westbound SR 520 full weekend closure

3/13/2015 to 3/16/2015
11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

All westbound lanes of SR 520 will be closed between 92nd Avenue Northeast and Montlake Boulevard from 11 p.m. Friday, March 13 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 16. The closure will allow West Approach Bridge North Project (WABN) crews to conduct key work activities including sawcutting, removing sections of concrete barrier, installing new combined sewer line and placing concrete barrier. Drilling crews will also continue geotechnical investigations during the weekend closure to analyze soils in areas planned for future highway improvements. This work requires closing a single lane of westbound SR 520 between Montlake Boulevard and I-5 from 6 a.m. to midnight Saturday, March 14 and closing a portion of the southbound left-turn lane from Montlake Boulevard to East Lake Washington Boulevard between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 14. Drivers will still be able to use the southbound left-turn lane to access East Lake Washington Boulevard during this work. If the geotechnical work is not completed on Saturday, crews will close the same lanes starting at 6 a.m. on Sunday and reopen them when the work is finished.

Light: Crews will use lights to illuminate the work zone at night. Noise: During the weekend closure, Montlake residents may hear crews breaking up concrete and operating excavators, cranes, concrete saws, light plants, trucks and other equipment. To limit what residents may hear, our contractor will employ construction best practices, such as using noise shields on stationary equipment and following a no-idling policy for construction vehicles. Use of noisy impact equipment, such as jackhammers, will occur before 10 p.m. as required by a city of Seattle temporary noise variance. Traffic: Westbound SR 520 will be closed between 92nd Avenue Northeast and Montlake Boulevard. There will also be a single lane closure of westbound SR 520 between Montlake Boulevard and I-5 from 6 a.m. to midnight on Saturday, March 14. If work is not completed on Saturday, crews will close the same lane starting at 6 a.m. on Sunday until work is completed. Crews will also close a portion of the southbound left-turn lane from Montlake Boulevard to East Lake Washington Boulevard for up to two days between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Drivers will still be able to use the southbound left-turn lane to access East Lake Washington Boulevard during this work. Both lanes of Montlake Boulevard will be open to traffic.
